Twee alert! The third full album by these Brooklyn indie poppers is awash in cutesiness, beginning with the chirrupy "Olly olly oxen free" refrain in the opening "Dimmer" and proceeding through to the album closer, "Tiger, Tiger," which counsels, "Imitate the action of the tiger/Or imitate the action of the snail." Songwriters Justin Rice and Christian Rudder are fluent melodists, but the hooks can't redeem a peppy preciousness that veers into indie self-parody — the sound of post-collegiates far too convinced that they're clever and quirky. By the time Rice and Rudder harmonize on the chorus "Oh, pobrecita!/Tragic little teacup!" you really want to break something. Grrr, indeed.
