Feedback introduces Nova Mob, and that's fitting. This band is Grant Hart's crew the Hart who flexed muscle with Hüsker Dü, drumming and singing with those Minneapolis marvels as they raised noise to an art form. Melody was their secret weapon, and with his own quartet, Hart sharpens that blade; now on guitar, he cranks distortion, but tunefulness sends his songs home. "Shoot Your Way to Freedom" evokes the Clash; major-chord anthems like "The Sins of Their Sons" bristle dramatically, while "I Won't Be There Anymore" first simmers, then blazes. (Restless, 1616 Vista Del Mar Ave., Hollywood, CA 90028; 213-957-4357.) (RS 691)
