Maroon 5, art rockers? These remixes of the group's hits by indie acts like Of Montreal and Deerhoof make the idea seem oddly plausible. Maroon 5's bubblegummy pop — and Adam Levine's anodyne vocals — make the band ideal candidates for remix treatment, and they've corralled some impressive extreme makeovers: hip-pop (Swizz Beatz), Euro-dance (Bloodshy & Avant), crunk (David Banner), retro R&B (Mark Ronson). The best are counterintuitive: Deerhoof's blip-heavy take on "Goodnight Goodnight" might just convince Levine to quit Hollywood life for artsy bohemia.
