Given that Lordi are theme-restaurant-running Finns who dress as horror creatures, the monstrous metal hooks on their 2006 breakthrough, The Arockalypse, came as a surprise. Rarely since the pre-thrash Eighties had a headbang gang lent such goofy enthusiasm to the old stomp-and-shout. From the bedtime-prayer intro to funeral-parlor keyboard cheese to several funny-accented numbers about shady ladies ("Girls Go Chopping"), the fearsome fivesome's follow-up is still shameless. Tempos tend toward sluggish, but when the shtick clicks — as on the Nancy Sinatra update "Man Skin Boots" or the kiddie-chorused child tragedy "Missing Miss Charlene" — Lordi prove they're still ready to make it with Frankenstein.
