Formed in an NYU dorm room in 2000, this band finds Grizzly Bear's Dan Rossen melding the psychedelic indie rock of his day job with Seventies lazy-river folk. Featuring a spate of slow songs specked with brass, distorted guitar and eerie, meandering melodies, In Ear Park sometimes rambles a bit: "Balmy Night," where Rossen warbles over a fluttering banjo, could use a more defined tune. But when two other Grizzly Bear members join in, they help Rossen and partner Fred Nicolaus focus: "No One Does It Like You" is a whimsical valentine with a bouncy groove banked on double bass and hand claps, evoking a love-struck M. Ward. Its mildly art-damaged sound is just right for indie kids who like their beauty a little messy.
