London-bred singer Marsha Ambrosius and rapper (or "floacist") Natalie Stewart wax poetic on their debut CD, combining spoken-word, rap and R&B to create an all encompassing, post-hip-hop soundscape. It's a feat they've done before, but for other artists like Jill Scott, Bilal and Michael Jackson, whose only hit from Invincible was the pair's "Butterflies" (Floetry's version appears on Floetic). On their debut, Ambrosius and Stewart present eminently listenable and danceable songs as they "flow" about the world with sass and soul. The title track lays it all out: "Floetry, we all right/Floacist, she's all right/Songstress, we all right." From that introduction, Floetry move on to everything else: the other woman song on "Ms. Strees;" the seductive ballad "Say Yes;" the swaying, got-a-crush/ain't-he-sexy song, "Hello" and the breaking-up-ain't-that-hard-to-do song, "Headache." Floetry, ably guided by executive producer "Jazzy" Jeff Townes and producers the Misfits, display their talents all through Floetic with subtle flair.
