This Canadian quintet went platinum with its first two albums, which offered arena emo long on overdriven guitars and giant choruses. Simple Plan presents a slightly more pristine version of that sound, complete with spacious production, even bigger choruses and some minor frills, including a handful of synth-driven grooves and a Joshua Tree-era U2 rip ("Holding On"). There are some decent pop moments: "When I'm Gone" is a seize-the-day anthem with a cathartic refrain. But most songs, like the angry barnburner "The End," are barely distinguishable from a dozen or so other Warped Tour bands. Worse yet, some of Simple Plan is downright annoying: "I Can Wait Forever" is a melodramatic power ballad, and "Love Is a Lie," a whiny rant directed at an unfaithful girlfriend, is a growl away from becoming Nickelback.

I find it hilarious that the CRITICS rate this album 2 stars, but the average USER rating is 4 stars. Shows that Simple Plan will still be around because fans can think for themselves, rather than listen to the close-minded opinion of some music critic.

Personally, I love anything Simple Plan makes. Maybe this wasn't their best, but I know all the tough things the band had to go through, so I can sympathize.

The critics never like Simple Plan, but the fans know what they like, and they all seem to love them. Ticket sales are going like chocolate in a room full of menstruating girls. I was JUST able to get one.

Overall, this album wasn't as bad as this idiot says it was.

It has been alomst four years since Simple Plan released "Still Not Getting Any..." and they took their time crafting their follow-up "Simple Plan". Fans will not be disappointed with the band's third studio release. Chuck Comeau and Pierre Bouvier did a wonderful job in song writing; from Chuck's personal song "Your Love Is A Lie" about his cheating ex-girlfriend to Pierre's heartfelt "Save You" penned about his brother's fight with cancer. The songs have been wonderfully crafted to show the band's growth since "Still Not Getting Any..." yet still not straying too far from their roots. It's a great record for Simple Plan fans.

This album sounds like it was written by a committee of music company executives in an attempt to garner as much tween disposable income as possible. If we go ahead and give them a Grammy will they go away and promise not to come back?
