Response of the Day: Halzee's Trip

The problem with Halzee's trip is that, while acknowledging that Saddam is no longer thumbing his nose at us, it totally fails to comprehend that his removal has created a white-hot new flashpoint for Al-Qaeda and other Islamic fundamentalists. Saddam did not tolerate these thugs in his Iraq. Not because he was a confirmed secularist, to be sure, but because they posed a threat to his dictatorship. What happened to violent religious extremists under his bloody rule? They were thrown against the wall and shot. It is only since the US led invasion that Iraq has become the Islam-baiting, polarizing, Al-Qaeda magnet, civil-war having mess that it is. This is a safer world?
