Eager to prove he's not a heartless monster just because his budget will throw millions of poor people off of food stamps and Medicaid, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan paid a surprise visit last week to a Youngstown, Ohio soup kitchen run by the local St. Vincent DePaul Society. The only problem? He wasn't invited. No matter. According to the charity's president, Ryan "ramrodded" his way into the place so he could stage a cheap photo op.
Undeterred by the fact that that no food was being served at the time, Ryan trouped photographers into the kitchen, donned an apron and proceeded to apply his elbow grease to . . . a bunch of pots that were already squeaky clean. "The photo-op they did wasn't even accurate," added the charity's president. "He did nothing."
