Global Recession, Good for the Climate?

You won't hear any enviros celebrating the collapse of the economy — the claim has long been that curbing CO2 can be safely de-coupled from economic productivity — but there's little question (with oil prices still tumbling on news of a supply glut at home, and drivers shaving off more than 100 billion miles in 2008 over 2007) that the nosediving global economy is giving our CO2 soaked atmosphere some substantial relief.
