Democracy Begins at Home: Give D.C. the Vote

By |

Following 200 years of taxation without representation, the residents of Washington D.C. may soon have a real vote in Congress, thanks to a nifty compromise worked out with Utah.

The deep red state has long claimed that Census counts underrepresent the state's population because so many young Utahns leave the country to do missionary work.

Under the proposed deal, which appears to have reasonable bi-partisan support, Congress would add two permanent seats, one for D.C. and one for Utah. Seems like the essence of good bipartisanship: doing right by democracy without upsetting any political apple carts.

What do you think?
