Video: Tim Dickinson on Roger Ailes and the 'Fox News Party'

POSTED:

Rolling Stone Contributing Editor Tim Dickinson appeared on MSNBC's The Ed Show to discuss his recent profile of Fox News chairman Roger Ailes. Dickinson says that "we can get distracted by some of these juicy details" – such as tales of Ailes bomb-proofing his office, the better to defend against Muslim terrorists and "those gays" – and miss the "main takeaway" of the piece. To wit, "Ailes has always said that he had a break between his two lives, his life as a politico and his life as a broadcast executive," says Dickinson. "That is a fiction and a lie he has told the American people." There is a "dramatic throughline," he says, in which his goals as a Nixon campaign strategist have been realized as the head of Fox News – or, as he calls it, the "Fox News Party." Watch his interview with host Thomas Roberts below.
