Jon Stewart on Why Republicans Will Miss Barney Frank

News of Rep. Barney Frank's decision not to seek reelection in 2012 was greeted in conservative quarters, as might be expected, "with respect for his service to the country," Jon Stewart deadpanned on last night's Daily Show before rolling a clip of conservative pundits all but popping champagne corks at the idea of a Frank-less world. (Sample: "Will Barney Frank's departure be a boost to the economy?") But right-wingers just don't get it, says Stewart: they should be in mourning, since Barney Frank is "the perfect avatar of everything they hate" – which is to say, an indispensable fundraising and get-out-the-vote tool.
