The youth vote is in play this election year, so let the pandering begin. Case in point: Nobody – nobody – wants to let the interest rates on student loans double. Not Obama, not Romney, not even congressional Republicans. But, as Jon Stewart noted on last night's Daily Show, that's about as far as bipartisan agreement goes on this. How to pay for the federal subsidies that keep the cost of college loans at 3.4 percent is a whole other question – one that brings out the kind of buffoonery, faux-outrage, truth-shading, and demonizing we've come to expect from our political leaders.
