It looked like we might all be in for a early night on Tuesday when Mitt Romney quickly emerged as the clear winner of Arizona's GOP primary. But no. Michigan, the other state voting, had to go and drag things out, with Romney and Rick Santorum locked in a too-close-to-call battle until the bitter end. Which obliged the networks to fill the intervening time the only way they know how – with a lot of inane jabbering and "war-room" gimmickry.
