Comment of the Day

From a reader named Scott, responding to Karl Rove's claim that "Internet for the Left of the Democratic Party has served as a way to mobilize hate and anger."

I may not agree with Rove's policies, and, sure, plenty on the right also use "hate and anger," but he's at least calling a spade a spade. As a liberal, I'm often embarrassed by how low bloggers often stoop (or how shrill they become). Time and again, we've learn that an effective opposition doesn't go polar —it moves a little closer to the middle. Otherwise, the hothead Bush-haters are just as bad as their targets, and then no one wins. (And fighting fire with fire is no excuse.)
