Black Opposition to Gay Marriage Greatly Exaggerated


The Exit Poll lore is that 70 percent of African Americans supported the anti-gay-marriage Prop 8. A study of actual returns from predominantly African American precincts, however, shows that that number was considerably off the mark. Support for the measure was still higher among African Americans than in the general voting population, but it was only 58 percent.
