Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Miles Davis: Photographs by Don Hunstein
Columbia's photgrapher recalls some of his most iconic shots
An alternate take from the Freewheelin' album cover shoot of Bob Dylan with Suze Rotolo photographed on West 4th street in New York City in February of 1963.
"It was winter and that was the first time I had shot him," Hunstein remembers. "One of the people in the publicity department at Columbia said, 'Look there's this kid called he's going to be hot. And we've got to start building a photo file right now and he's downtown he's willing to have you come.' So I went down to the Village. I asked him to walk away about 50 feet from me, turn around and walk to me. Because it was cold we didn’t take terribly much time but we lucky to get what got we got."
