Rock & Roll Refugees: 10 People Who Escaped the Music Industry

Music Industry Refugees: Stan Goman Photo
NAME: Stan Goman
FORMER JOB: Chief operating officer, Tower Records. "I left Tower in 2002. The banks took over [during bankruptcy proceedings]. The managers became the bank. I wasn't really into working for a bunch of banks. They had their ideas, I had mine and it was best at that time for me to retire — after 37 years at Tower."
CURRENT JOB: Owner, University Copy & Print in Sacramento, California. "It's a tiny little thing. It only does about a half a million dollars every year. It's just me and two other employees. If we want to change something, we just change it. I'll tell you, it beats buying records for $12.03 and trying to sell them for $9.99."
