Rock & Roll Refugees: 10 People Who Escaped the Music Industry

Music Industry Refugees: Zach Brooks Photo
NAME: Zach Brooks
FORMER JOB: Format manager, programming, Sirius Satellite Radio. "I loved my job at Sirius. A year from now, two years from now, I can go back to radio. I can go back to the music industry. I have a lot of experience and a lot of friends I can work with. But right now, I sort of have to take my shot at this."
CURRENT JOB: Blogger, midtownlunch.com, about obscure New York City lunch spots. "Working in Midtown, the food is terrible — terrible delis downstairs in the city. I started finding all these cool places to eat and started a blog focusing on food in Midtown. The second week I did Falafel Week, [reviewing] a ton of different falafel carts. Halfway through, Gawker picked up on it. I literally went from, like, 50 people to 16,000 people. It's such a simple idea. No one's doing it, and it resonates."
