Music Industry Refugees: Darryl Franklin Photo
NAME: Darryl Franklin
FORMER JOB: Vice president, business affairs, Interscope Records. "I've been a lawyer in the music business for 25 years. Three years ago, my partner and I thought, 'We're first class on the Titanic now. And we know how it ends. The record business will never be the same again.' "
CURRENT JOB: Manages skateboarder Danny Way and runs Mega Ramp Events, which oversees the 62-foot-tall, 293-foot-long ramp at the X Games. "I've lived the entrepreneurial dream and nightmare. I've done some incredible things with Danny in action sports. Seeing Danny go over the Great Wall of China was up there with the birth of my first child. It was very emotional, it was a real life-achievement-type thing. But do you miss a nice regular salary with fat benefits and everything else? Absolutely."
