What I expected was the usual limp handshake and room scan for the hottest babe. What I got was eye contact and a question. 'Tell me,' he queried, 'how do you deal with the cold in this city?' Before I could muster an answer, he tugged on my satin jacket, rasped 'Let's sit down, I'm zonked!' and launched into a Springsteenian tale of his first visit to the city.
