Among the new movies released this year, 300 easily delivers the most visual bang for your DVD buck. From the second Gerard Butler's King Leonidas hollers, "We are Sparta," and rallies 299 other Greek warriors to take on 250,000 Persians at the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, the testosterone goes into overdrive. Director Zack Snyder makes sure all the actors look gym-ready in gladiator Speedos, then brings on mutant rhinos, elephants and a masked army of Immortals.

HOT BONUS: The behind-the-scenes material really shines, given the process Snyder employs to bring life to the 1998 graphic novel Frank Miller created for Dark Horse Comics. Actors perform against blank screens on which backgrounds are drawn to represent Miller's panels.

KILLER SCENE: The battle in which the 300 force the Persians into the bottleneck known as the Hot Gates will give your home-theater system the workout of its life, what with the swords, arrows, beheadings and blood spray — all at an aural pitch to rival the mosh pit at Ozzfest.
