Kid Rock
Rock N Roll Jesus
Out October 9th
"It's like going to your favorite bar and getting shitfaced but then finding a gospel choir in there," says Kid Rock, summing up his tenth album. Most of Rock N Roll Jesus is catchy and balls-out, with Rock howling over AC/DC riffs and banging grooves -- but there's also melodic, contemplative stuff like the sweet reminiscences "All Summer Long" and "Amen." Jesus is Rock's first studio album in four years, thanks to a load of distractions -- including marrying Pamela Anderson. After his six-month marriage ended last December, Rock was bummed for a while, then got back to work in his studio near Detroit, bringing in Green Day producer Rob Cavallo to amp up the sound. Rock sees Jesus as the great American rock & roll record he's always had in him and also as a move toward maturity. "A lot of people have been pulling for me not to say, 'Suck my dick' in every song," he says. "I just really wanted to step it up as a songwriter."
