Wolman's first ever shoot for Rolling Stone was with the Grateful Dead, just after the band had been busted on marijuana charges. Wolman followed the band as they posted bail then held a press conference, but ended up shooting them at the Dead's house in Haight-Ashbury. "Jann wanted a group shot, but I couldn't get them to pose," Wolman says. "After the press conference, they were just high on the moment, just totally wired. So they came out and started foolin' around on the steps of their house.
