Stevie Wonder's first studio album in ten years is also his best in twenty-five. Like his Seventies classics, A Time to Love combines lush love ballads with socially observant funk. Wonder leaves behind the stiff synths and dated drums of his last few discs in favor of an electric and acoustic warmth that suits his optimism and open-hearted ardor. And with the jazzy "Moon Blue" and other slow-burning beauties, Wonder finally approaches his own masterworks' high standards.
