Nine Inch Nails were forced to cut short their Friday night show at San Diego's Cox Arena -- the opening night of their fall tour with Queens of the Stone Age -- after drummer Jerome Dillon complained of chest pains.

Forty minutes into the set, after a ferocious run through of "Gave Up," the band broke. Moments later, Trent Reznor announced from behind a transparent curtain, "We've got a medical emergency. We'll be back with you in a minute or two." About ten minutes later though, as fans milled about in the darkened arena, Reznor came back out and updated the crowd. "Here's what's up, no bullshit," he said. "Jerome came to me and said, 'My heart is pounding and I'm having chest pains.' We're all kind of freaked out back here."

A subsequent announcement informed the crowd that Dillon would not be able to continue and that the show would be postponed until November 20th, when tickets for Friday night's show would be honored. Nine Inch Nails were also forced to cancel Saturday night's show in Tucson, Arizona.

According to a post on the band's Web site, Dillon is doing better and the Nine Inch Nails tour will resume tonight in Phoenix. "I'd like to personally thank the audience in San Diego for your understanding and the respect you displayed last night," Reznor wrote on the site. "I will make it up to you."
