John Legend will kick off his first headlining tour in support of his debut, Get Lifted. The album debuted at Number Seven and remained in the Top Ten for its first three months.

The R&B singer-songwriter and Kanye West protege's tour will cap off an impressive year, following a stint as the opener on Alicia Keys' thirty-five-city tour which wrapped this past Sunday.

Earlier this year, Legend's Grammy Awards show performance of "Jesus Walks" with West and Mavis Staples brought the pianist back to his childhood singing gospel at church. "I wasn't even really allowed to listen to secular music," he told Rolling Stone last year. "I didn't have any CDs."

Before breaking out on his own, Legend was a session pianist and songwriter for Keys, Lauryn Hill, Twista and Janet Jackson. He also sung hooks on Jay-Z's "Encore" and "Jesus Walks."

According to Legend, West predicted his rise, saying, "You're me last year."
