Piano man Ben Folds will release his second solo album, Songs for Silverman, on April 26th. The self-produced follow-up to 2001's Rockin' the Suburbs features Folds with bassist Jared Reynolds and drummer Lindsay Jamieson.
Among the album's eleven tracks are "Gracie," which finds Folds singing to his daughter, and "Late," a tribute to friend and former tourmate Elliott Smith, who died in 2003 from an apparent self-inflicted knife wound.
"I was playing all the same shitholes he was," Folds told Rolling Stone in November. "The lyrics of the song are about people who are sharing your experience."
Since Rockin', Folds has released a trio of EPs, and collaborated with William Shatner on the actor's Has Been album.
Songs' first single, "Landed," arrives at radio next month.
