Rilo Kiley frontwoman -- and former child actress -- Jenny Lewis
was officially the indie-rock heartthrob of 2004, despite a
corrosive cynicism about matters of the flesh that could singe off
anyone's sweater vest. On More Adventurous, the Los
Angeles foursome's breakthrough third album, Lewis and her
collaborator, Blake Sennett, dabble in doo-wop balladry ("I Never")
and political venom ("It's a Hit"). But mostly, Adventurous erases
the line between sexy and unnerving.
