One of the great Dylan riddles: In whose direction was he aiming these twelve venomous verses? Most likely, "4th Street," recorded as the follow-up single to "Like a Rolling Stone," is about all the naysayers and plastic people he encountered during his time in Greenwich Village (when he lived on West 4th) and his stint on fraternity row at the University of Minnesota (located on 4th Street in Minneapolis).
