When Ray Charles put out Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, DJs picked up on this remake of the Kitty Wells hit, which hadn't been released as a single. When Charles heard that white vocalist Tab Hunter had cut his own version, ABC got to work, cutting the song down to a 45-friendly two and a half minutes and rushing the record into stores.
