Bruce Brings Change Home

On October 13th, two days after the official Vote for Change finale in Washington, D.C., Bruce Springsteen will bring the tour to his home state of New Jersey. The tour encourages voter participation, rallying musicians and music fans alike in support of a changing of the guard.

While the tour was conceived for swing states such as Florida and Ohio, New Jersey could use some convincing as well: after a double-digit lead following the Democratic National Convention in July, John Kerry fell into a near tie with president Bush after the Republican National Convention in August. (Kerry did bounce back a few points after the first debate last Thursday.)

The New Jersey concert, to be held at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, will feature Change headliners Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jackson Browne, Patti Scialfa and John Fogerty.

After visiting thirty-six swing-state cities, the Vote for Change finale will take place on October 11th at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., featuring performances by Springsteen, Browne, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, John Mellencamp and the Dixie Chicks. The show will be broadcast on the Sundance Channel, intercut with backstage segments filmed by renowned American documentary filmmakers Albert Maysles and D.A. Pennebaker.
