The Black Crowes won Band of the Year and Afroman's "Because I Got High" won Pot Song of the Year at the second annual Doobie Awards, which were announced on September 18th despite the cancellation of the program due to last week's terrorist attacks . . . Elton John will perform at the Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children benefit show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 29th . . . Jennifer Lopez will make her concert debut with a pair of performances in Puerto Rico's Roberto Clemente Coliseum on September 21st and 22nd that will be taped and aired on NBC . . . Nate Dogg will release Music and Me, featuring guest spots by Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Ludacris, on December 4th . . .

'N Sync's Lance Bass, Jewel, Willie Nelson, Meat Loaf and Mos Def are among the musicians who will be featured in Crossover, a documentary about musicians who try acting, which will debut on the Independent Film Channel on September 24th . . . Madonna donated the proceeds from her concert in Los Angeles on September 13th to victims of last week's terrorist attacks . . . Godsmack donated the proceeds from all merchandise sales at their shows in Darien, New York, on September 14th and Scranton, Pennsylvania, on the 16th to the families of police officers and firefighters lost in the rescue efforts in New York . . . Faith Evans will release her third album, "Faithfully," on November 6th . . . Elton John will kick off a North American tour on October 5th in Cleveland in support of his upcoming "Songs From the West Coast," due October 2nd . . .

A reel-to-reel recording of Elvis Presley singing "That's All Right" in 1954 will be auctioned off by Fleetwood Owen in London this week along with Rolling Stones and Beatles memorabilia . . . American Head Charge will join Slipknot's Pledge of Allegiance tour for fifteen dates beginning October 10th in St. Louis . . . Incubus donated the proceeds from their shows on September 15th and 16th in New York to relief efforts . . . The Murder City Devils will launch a month-long farewell tour beginning October 1st in Pomona, California. The band's keyboard player, Leslie Hardy, has left the band and bass player Derek Fudesco will leave at the tour's end . . . Gov't Mule will release "The Deep End; Vol. 1" on October 23rd, the first in a three-part series of releases that features the band working with various bass players . . .

A video of the Beatles appearing on the BBC's "Juke Box Jury" in 1963 has been unearthed by a fan and returned to the BBC, which did not have its own copy . . . Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, B.B. King, and the Carter Family are among the artists featured on the four-CD box set, "American Roots Music," a companion piece to next month's PBS series of the same name . . . "Nightfall of Diamonds," a two-disc set capturing the Grateful Dead performing in October of 1989, will be released on September 25th . . . Janet Jackson, James Taylor and Maxwell have joined the list of artists to donate concert proceeds to the victims of last week's terrorist attacks through the ClearChannel.com Relief Fund . . . Lynyrd Skynyrd's Johnny Van Zant and Survivor's Jim Peterik have teamed up to write "The Day America Cried," about last week's attacks . . . Arista Records is planning to re-release Whitney Houston's performance of "The Star Spangled Banner," which was recorded ten years ago, to raise money for the victims and families of the victims of last week's tragedy . . . Radio listeners raised a total of $75,000 to help the winning bid made by a seven-year-old Tennessee boy who pledged his $50 savings to win six tickets to see Kenny Chesney and meet the country singer; all of the proceeds were directed to the American Red Cross.
