Erick Sermon remains in "critical but stable" condition in a New Jersey hospital, recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident Tuesday night.
The rapper/producer was travelling home after shooting the video for his latest single, "I'm Hot," when his car hit the side wall on Route 80 in Patterson. Authorities believe that Sermon, who was not wearing a seat belt, either fell asleep or skidded on the wet road, according to a J Records spokesperson.
Sermon was unconscious when police arrived on the scene. He regained consciousness Thursday, but is still unable to speak; he suffered a broken jaw and other facial injuries, along with a broken arm and leg and internal injuries.
Sermon's promotional tour behind The Sermon was scheduled to kick off tonight in New York City, but it has been cancelled. J Records expects the finished video for "I'm Hot" to premiere on BET in early October.
The Sermon, the rapper's third solo album, drops October 30th.
