Simon & Garfunkel Get Boxed

Simon and Garfunkel will be the subject of a new box, Simon & Garfunkel: The Columbia Studio Recordings 1964-1970, due August 21st. In the process of remastering and repackaging the duo's first five albums -- Wednesday Morning, 3 a.m., Sounds of Silence, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, Bookends and Bridge Over Troubled Water -- Columbia found, through fan feedback, that interest in the albums was sufficient to offer the albums together in a box, with a slightly lighter price tag.

The five-disc set will include the albums in cardboard sleeves designed to replicate the original album packaging. The set will also feature rare photos of the group and new liner notes. The release will coincide with the release of the individually remastered versions of the albums, which will also feature bonus tracks and new liner notes, but not the replicated packaging.

The only recordings by the pair that aren't covered by the box are their soundtrack to The Graduate, which features material that was predominantly previously released and The Concert in Central Park, the 1982 release from their 1981 reunion.
