Ani DiFranco moved a little plastic bride and groom into her Little Plastic Castle when she wed longtime companion and engineer Andrew Gilchrist during a private ceremony last weekend. |

A quiet weekend diversion, the wedding was slipped in between studio sessions for DiFranco's next album, which follows closely on the heels of her February release, Little Plastic Castle. The D.I.Y. matriarch has already completed seven songs for the still-untitled album and is currently tinkering with titles and production, a spokeswoman for DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records told JAMTV on Thursday.

As previously reported on JAMTV, DiFranco wrapped up a club tour through Europe, Australia and Asia before diving headfirst into this latest project. With just 12 days left before the launch of her largest U.S. tour to date, DiFranco plans to wrap up production work on the seven existing songs before June 18, the spokeswoman said.

After winding her way from Buffalo, N.Y., to Quebec, the raucous folk singer will lay down a few more tracks and likely complete the forthcoming album before she packs up her amplifiers and guitar picks once again. DiFranco will then downsize for a three-week tour of colleges and small cities throughout the U.S. starting in mid-September.

The newest creation by the ever-prolific DiFranco will reach stores in early 1999, at which time she will likely tour again. There's no word yet on whether she will ever take time off for a honeymoon. (Anni Layne)
