The deal gives EMI the rights to Sting's material from his days with the Police as well as all his songs from his solo career -- past, present and future. The contract will run for a minimum of 10 years, or at least for as long as it takes Sting to record five new albums. Royalties from the projects will be split 75-25, with Sting taking the bigger chunk.
Speaking of the Police, there's speculation of a reunion. In a recent interview, Police drummer, Stewart Copeland, said that when the band called it quits in 1985, he always hoped that they'd someday get back together. So now Copeland is doing all he can to get his old pals Sting and Andy Summers back in the studio and out on the road. So keep your ears open and stay tuned to JAMTV for any new info on a Police reunion. (AB)
