Home Alive, a Seattle-based non profit group, needs your help.|
The organization that was established following the brutal rape and murder of Seattle-based musician Mia Zappata to teach people self defense so they can make it "home alive." In the past four years, Home Alive has provided free and affordable self defense classes and has been fully self-supported.
Their 1996 benefit compilation, Home Alive: The Art of Self Defense, features the likes of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Joan Jett and others. The two-CD Epic Records release helped raise money for the organization, but now those funds are depleted.
Now facing bankruptcy, Home Alive is set to close its doors on March 31. They have taken steps to minimize their expenses but are reaching out to the community they have helped serve for the last four years.
