Before this year's Super Bowl, football fans and music lovers will all have something to cheer about.|

It was announced on Thursday that multiplatinum-selling artist Jewel will sing the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXII on Jan. 25. The singer said she is excited to sing the "Star Spangled Banner" when the world's most-watched TV event hits San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium.

"I am looking forward to performing at the Super Bowl in January," Jewel said. "San Diego has been my home for the past five years and it's exciting that the Super Bowl is coming back here for the first time in a decade."

During the last two years, Jewel has become one of the world's most recognized singers. Her debut album, Pieces of You, has sold more than seven million copies in the United States alone and peaked at No. 4 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. The album currently sits at No. 22 and has been on the chart for 94 weeks. (Ari Bendersky)
