(NEW YORK) - Bent on making a ruckus and preserving the punk ethos, Kristin Hersh co-founded Throwing Muses in 1983.|
In various permutations, the band lived on for 12 years, releasing a half-dozen pop-punk efforts on 4AD and Reprise. But for Strange Angels, Hersh's first album since the Muses broke up, the singer/songwriter has opted for an acoustic approach.
"I love playing electric guitar, and I miss my band so much -- I'd love to be in another someday," she says. "[But] there's a lot to be said for the world of folk music, music made in the small places by regular folk -- not-so-beautiful people, odd people, people with families and bills to pay."
Strange Angels will be released in the U.S. Feb. 3 on Rykodisc.
