Kula Shaker surprised an intimate crowd Tuesday night with a gig at the Viper Room.|
Los Angeles radio station KROQ announced the show only one time during the day on Tuesday, but that didn't prevent the word from spreading like wildfire. Apparently, the tiny club filled almost as soon as the doors opened and the crowd eagerly accepted the band's first live show in nearly five months.
Kula Shaker kicked off their hour-long set around midnight and mainly played songs from their 1996 debut album, K, including "Hey Dude," "Tattva," "Govinda" and "Grateful When You're Dead." The band also played a ripping version of Deep Purple's "Hush."
Although the band is currently in Los Angeles recording their
follow-up to K, Kula Shaker only performed one new song,
which, according to a band spokesman, was well-received by the
