Elton John, Shawn Colvin Tapped for TNT Joni Mitchell Tribute

Joni Mitchell is next in line for TNT's Master Series treatment. Elton John, Shawn Colvin, Wynonna Judd, Chaka Khan, k.d. lang, Diana Krall, Richard Thompson and Cassandra Wilson are among those who will be on hand to honor the folk-jazz singer-songwriter. Mitchell herself will also appear at the program in her honor, hosted by Ashley Judd at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on April 6.

"Joni Mitchell is an artistic visionary whose contributions to music and culture reflect the essence of the TNT Masters Series," Bradley J. Siegel of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., said. "Celebrating her music with performers who have all been influenced by her work will make for an unforgettable evening."

The TNT Master Series began two years ago with Burt Bacharach: One Amazing Night and has since provided all-star tributes to Johnny Cash and Bob Marley.

The Mitchell tribute falls in the midst of her tour behind Both Sides Now, her most recent album. The collection of reinterpreted standards (and two Mitchell originals) was released on March 21.

TNT will air the program on April 16 at 9 p.m. EST.
