Filter are wrapping up work on their third album, The Amalgamut, at the Mixroom in Los Angeles this week with producer Ben Grosse (Ben Folds, Fuel). The album is due late spring/early summer, in time for the appearance on the Ozzfest 2002 tour.

"This is sonically the most incredible record we've been a part of," posts Filter frontman -- and former Nine Inch Nails member -- Richard Patrick on the band's official site. "I called the record The Amalgamut because I took a trip across the country and started to realize that everything in America could potentially become one big homogenized piece of shit. I'm so sick and tired of seeing McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, on every single street. It's in a way an amalgamation or a mutt. I think there should be way more focus on abstract thought and individualism as opposed to everybody trying to be the same."

The album will be Filter's first since 1999's Title of Record.

The tentative track listing for The Amalgamut:

You Walk Away
The American Cliche
Columind
Where Do We Go From Here
So I Quit
It Feels Like That You're With Me and Against Me
My Long Walk to Jail
The Missing
God Damn Me
I Like the World Today
