Veruca Salt's Future Unclear As Gordon Leaves Band

Nina Gordon, a co-founder of Chicago-based rock band Veruca Salt, has left to pursue other interests, according to Dennis Dennehy, the band's spokesman at Geffen Records.|

"Nina has left the band and the future of Veruca Salt is uncertain at this point," Dennehy told JAMTV on Monday. Because Gordon, Veruca Salt co-founder Louise Post and the rest of the band spent most of 1997 on the road, Dennehy said the news came as a surprise to him. He also said he wasn't aware of any internal conflicts between the two songwriters.

Veruca Salt first received worldwide recognition with the release of 1994's America Thighs, which spawned the hit "Seether." The group, which also features bassist Steve Lack and former Letters To Cleo drummer Stacy Jones, released their second album, Eight Arms To Hold You, in early 1997.

Neither Dennehy nor Veruca Salt's management, Q Prime, had any more information at this time.
