With CMJ officially bringing the 2008 festival season to a close, Rock Daily and Rock N' Roll Diary realized they spent an awful lot of time checking out live music, hanging out with bands and drinking in the sun. Click below for highlights from all the summer's biggest events, from Wayne Coyne gushing about the Who at VH1 Rock Honors to Patton Oswalt bemoaning the world's saddest mini golf course at All Tomorrow's Parties.

More Festival Coverage at Rock Daily

VH1 Rock Honors: The Who
We hit the red carpet at the celebration around the Who's four decades of maximum r&b to talk to the Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and Brandon Boyd of Incubus about how Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and the Who inspired them.

Pemberton
At the inaugural Pemberton Festival outside Vancouver, Canada, Rock N Roll Diary beatboxed with Matisyahu and got a lesson in international relations from Metric.

Lollapalooza
This year's visit to Chicago's Grant Park brought us face to face with founder Perry Farrell, the buzzy Ting Tings and hard partying Black Lips while Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails thrilled the crowds.

Outside Lands
San Francisco's Golden Gate Park was the setting for the first Outside Lands Festival, where we jawed with Ben Harper and got schooled on rock star stage moves by Kaki King.

Harley Davidson Festival
Rock N Roll Diary didn't have a hog, but we did throw down in Milwaukee with American Idol rock chick Amanda Overmeyer and watched sets by Bruce Springsteen and Kid Rock.

MTV Video Music Awards
Music's craziest night saw Rock N Roll Diary hanging out with Perez Hilton on the red carpet and getting deep with Panic at the Disco.

All Tomorrow's Parties
Up in the Catskill Mountains, Thurston Moore talked about the pitfalls of playing noise jams at festivals and Patton Oswalt took us on a tour through the saddest mini golf course on the east coast.

Austin City Limits
Deep in the heart of Texas, we got a lesson in soul from Robert Earl Keen and goofed around with everyone's favorite lesbian twins Tegan and Sara.
