From Radiohead to the Wreckers

New Radiohead Tunes Hit Theaters, Road

RADIOHEAD will contribute music to RICHARD LINKLATER's animated big-screen adaptation of PHILIP K. DICK's classic science-fiction novel, A Scanner Darkly, starring KEANU REEVES and WINONA RYDER and due out July 7th. The songs will include a track off an upcoming solo release by singer THOM YORKE. The band is currently working on new material that they will road-test -- and possibly partially release online -- during a European club tour in May. No official album release date has been set. Radiohead is also scheduled to perform at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, on June 17th -- their only scheduled American appearance.

Inside Classic Metallica, Chilis CDs

The book RICK RUBIN: In the Studio will be published this fall, recounting the famed producer's work with acts like METALLICA, LINKIN PARK, BEASTIE BOYS, JOHNNY CASH, WEEZER and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS. The biography, written by Jake Brown, will include interviews in which Rubin discusses the making of each album along with commentary from some of the artists he has worked with over the past two decades.

Manilow Schools Those "Idol" Kids

BARRY MANILOW, who has sold more than seventy-five million albums in his thirty-year career, will appear this Tuesday and Wednesday on FOX's American Idol. Tuesday's performances will be themed "Music From the Fifties" in honor of Manilow's latest release, Greatest Songs of the Fifties, which debuted at Number One on the chart and was certified platinum this week. During Wednesday's broadcast, Manilow will perform his latest single, "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing."

Pearl Jam Give Fan Club Love

PEARL JAM are giving members of their fan club an opportunity to reserve tickets for three "potential" shows: May 25th in Boston, May 28th in Philadelphia and May 31st in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Fans will only be charged once the dates have been confirmed. The band is also offering a free copy of their 1992 New Year's Eve performance at New York's Academy Theatre when they pre-order Pearl Jam's new self-titled album, due May 2nd, at pearljam.com.

Warhol's Mick and Debbie Pics on Display

An exhibition of photographs by late, legendary pop artist ANDY WARHOL -- including portraits of MICK JAGGER, DEBBIE HARRY, DIANA ROSS and OZZY OSBOURNE -- will be on display at New York's Zwirner and Wirth Gallery April 5th through 29th. The exhibition Warhol's World features more than 300 never-before-seen prints of rockers, drag queens and socialites taken between 1976 and 1987. Accompanying the display are rare episodes of Warhol's television shows, featuring interviews with Harry, STEVEN SPIELBERG and others.

Professor X Dead at Forty-Nine

PROFESSOR X (born Lumumba Carson) of the politically charged rap group the X-CLAN, died in a New York hospital on Friday of spinal meningitis at age forty-nine. In the early Nineties, the X-Clan released two critically acclaimed albums, packed with social critique and a black empowerment message, and secured their spot in hip-hop history. After leaving the crew, Carson released two solo efforts, 1999's Years to the 9, On the Backhand Side and 1993's Puss in Boots. A public wake for Carson will be held on Thursday in Brooklyn.

Bizkit's Borland Fires Up Black Light

This summer, former LIMP BIZKIT guitarist WES BORLAND will release Cruel Melody, the debut from his new project BLACK LIGHT BURNS featuring session drummer JOSH FREESE, former NIN guitarist DANNY LOHNER and TELEFON TEL AVIV keyboardist/programmer JOSH EUSTIS. The album also boasts guests like Bizkit bassist SAM RIVERS, CONCRETE BLONDE's JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO, singer-songwriter CARINA ROUND and FROM FIRST TO LAST frontman SONNY MOORE. Limp Bizkit is currently on hiatus.

Branch's Wreckers Rock Radio

"Leave the Pieces," the first single from the WRECKERS -- featuring singer-songwriters MICHELLE BRANCH and JESSICA HARP -- hits radio this week. The duo's country-rock debut, Stand Still, Look Pretty, is due May 23rd.
