Kanye Goes Gold-Digging in California

At the very last minute, KANYE WEST has been added to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, happening this weekend in Indio, California. West is set to take the main outdoor stage on Saturday night, after fellow Chicago rapper COMMON's set, suggesting a possible live collaboration. Other performers for the two-day festival include headliners TOOL and DEPECHE MODE, as well as MADONNA, FRANZ FERDINAND, MASSIVE ATTACK, the YEAH YEAH YEAHS and JAMES BLUNT. With no act scheduled for the main stage during Madonna's set, rumors are afloat that more additions may be announced.

Snoop Dogg Arrested in London

Rap superstar SNOOP DOGG and five associates were arrested at London's Heathrow Airport Wednesday after disorderly conduct that left seven police officers with minor injuries. The British media reported that members of Snoop's posse allegedly tossed bottles of whiskey in a duty-free store and pushed officers after an argument in a business lounge. Six men -- including Snoop -- were arrested and held overnight on charges of violent disorder. The rapper, 34, was released on bail and will now continue his onward travel to South Africa to perform in Johannesburg, according to his lawyer.

Chili Peppers Storm Voodoo Fest

Headliners RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS are the first confirmed act for the 2006 Voodoo Music Experience, set to take place in New Orleans the week of October 28th and 29th. In spite of Hurricane Katrina, last year's Voodoo fest -- featuring NINE INCH NAILS and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE -- took place half in Memphis and half in the Crescent City.

Springsteen, Morrison Get CMT Docs

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and VAN MORRISON will be the subject of separate documentaries about their forays into country music for the CMT network, set to debut May 5th. Bruce Springsteen: The Seeger Sessions, follows the New Jersey rocker through the making of this week's release, We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, inspired by the traditional songs of folk legend PETE SEEGER. Van Morrison: One Night in Nashville, shot in black and white, chronicles the Irish singer-songwriter s first-ever Nashville performance earlier this year at the city's Ryman Auditorium, where he threw down four tunes off his latest country-tinged album, Pay the Devil.

Spector Trial Postponed Until 2007

Legendary music producer PHIL SPECTOR's murder trial has once again been postponed -- this time until January of 2007. The judge told lawyers on Tuesday that he mistakenly scheduled two trials for the same date and has decided to try the other case first. Spector, free on $1 million bail, is accused of killing B-movie actress Lana Clarkson in his Beverly Hills mansion in February 2003. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer faces life in prison if convicted. Spector is also currently involved in a legal battle with his former assistant, who he alleges embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from him. She has since filed a multimillion-dollar countersuit for sexual harassment and other claims.

Country Singer Bonnie Owens Dies at 76

Country singer BONNIE OWENS, former wife of country legends BUCK OWENS and MERLE HAGGARD, died April 24th in Bakersfield, California, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was seventy-six. The singer's career began after meeting Owens in the mid-Forties. The couple eventually married and had two sons before separating in the Fifties. While working as a waitress, she crossed paths with Haggard, and the two recorded a duet, "Just Between the Two of Us," that went to Number One on the country charts in 1965. Owens and Haggard soon married, and the pair toured together until their divorce in 1978. Over the course of her career, Owens recorded a total of eight albums and remained friends with both her ex-husbands.
