There are lots of ways to get your vinyl records onto your iPod,
but few of them are appealing. Among the options: You can pay a
service to convert vinyl to MP3 files, or, if you're a techie, you
can connect your record player's stereo output to your PC's sound
card. The easiest and most stylish solution is to use the Crosley
Keepsake USB Turntable, which connects directly to any computer and
comes with Audacity open-source software that converts songs into
MP3s. At $150, the Keepsake is pricier than some USB record
players, but it can play records through internal speakers and fold
up in a black or tan briefcase styled like the portable phonographs
of the Fifties. Music-geek bonus: It plays 33s, 45s and 78s (!).
