Leibovitz, who has shot more Rolling Stone covers than any photographer, entered the magazine's San Francisco office in 1970 as a shy student and landed a job shooting a cover portrait of John Lennon. Since then, she photographed Brian Wilson, Pete Townshend, Mick Jagger, and other rock legends. Seliger, who was the mastermind behind three whimsically staged Seinfeld cast shots, also photographed such diverse subjects as Bill Clinton (before and during his presidency), Jenny McCarthy, and David Letterman. In honor of the 1000th issue of the magazine, Leibovitz and Seliger have shared their experiences behind the lens. Browse our gallery to read, and hear, their memories.
